Kelly Bridges is an 11-year-old American living in Singapore with his parents, a brother, aged 7 and a sister, aged 5. Here he writes about a truly memorable trip.

“In May 2018, my family and I went on a trip through Europe. We went to the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Switzerland.

One of my favourite things in the Netherlands was going to the beach in Middelburg. I also loved the Belgian waffles in Belgium, mine had powdered sugar, ice cream and chocolate syrup on top.

When we were in Luxemburg I got to see the casements. The casements are underground tunnels that people used to defend the city from invaders.

In France, I had escargots, which in English means snails, and it was one of the most amazing things I had ever tried. In Switzerland, I went to the most amazing place I have ever seen, the Alps. We got to go up on a gondola, touch some snow and watch snowboarders and skiers.

I think that my Europe trip was one of the most amazing trips I have ever gone on and likely ever will go on. This is because I learned about new cultures and met new people and saw sights I had never seen before. I am very thankful for being able to do this trip and I wish everyone could experience it.”
